I work with bespoke design through a combination of self-invented techniques and long-established traditional methods. Rather than forcing materials into predetermined outcomes, I strive to work with their inherent qualities.
Material understanding is therefore one of the fundamental pillars of my practice. I approach materials as concepts, isolating them from their expected uses and historical constellations in order to allow new possibilities to emerge.
I believe this way of thinking is essential for the survival of any craft. Thinking beyond traditional use creates space for new impact while still celebrating heritage and tradition.
Growing up in a harbour village, maritime surroundings shaped my understanding of utility and craft. Rough weather is unforgiving to poor design—it reveals weakness after a single season. This environment taught me that form and technique must work together, creating a strong, almost universal language rooted in function.
